DIE PRESSED SPOON MAKING

1 DAY COURSE –  £125 materials included

The course runs from 10 – 5pm

Suitable for those with basic jewellery skills

Guest Tutor Matt Benton, is running this 1 day silver spoon making course which will be packed with lots of metal working tips along the way.  With over 20 years of metalworking experience Matt currently tutors at Bristol School of Art, part of South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.  His teaching practice is led by example and demonstration of techniques and he actively encourages experimentation with positive guidance to get the best from his students. This course will focus on designing and making dies in Perspex which can be used multiple times with the Hydraulic Press.  Once mastered, the die making technique can be used in your jewellery designs to give a 3-dimensional quality.  The use of domes in spoon making and the techniques of making and soldering handles will also be covered.

Students are asked to come prepared with some ideas for the die shape they wish to design and cut.

Matt will also be bringing his own die to the workshop for his ‘ice cream spoon’ which students may use should they wish to press their own silver ice cream spoon.
