2 day Enamelling course

Enamelling with Tamizan Savill - 10.00am - 4.00pm £190 (includes enamels, copper and some silver) Bring Packed Lunch

The next course is on 18th and 19th November, 2017

This 2 day course is suitable for complete beginners or those wishing to brush up on their enamelling skills and/or add new skills to their repertoire.  No experience of enamelling or jewellery making is required.

Day 1 will be spent learning the basics of using vitreous enamel to enhance jewellery with wonderful colour. We will cover dry applications, (sifting and scraffito) using mainly copper for samples, and then move onto using silver as a base. The course covers preparation of metals, grinding and cleaning enamels for wet-layering, firing, stoning and finishing. We will also discuss designing for enamelling and solving common problems.

Day 2  will cover cloisonne, foils, blending, overlay and finishing techniques. Students can bring their own pieces for enamelling as long as the depth of texture is light, ie. between 0.3 - 0.4mm depth with a retaining rim of the same depth around the edge of the piece.
