Resins (cold enamels)
Tutor - Clare John. Clare has been making resin jewellery since graduating from Middlesex University many years ago. She uses an odourless resin that has no carcinogenic solvents in it.
2 day Resins course - £140 to include materials - bring packed lunch
The next course is planned for 3rd & 4th September 2011 please call or email for details
This is a 2 day workshop which will give jewellery makers the opportunity to use resin in different ways. The two days will focus on making 3D jewellery like large beads and bangles in resin. You will be shown how to make moulds from silicone and how to cast resin. The resin comes in a wide range of colours and effects like transparent, sparkle and pearl and metallic effects. There will also be time to discuss using resin with metal clay and traditional jewellery and we will practise finishing techniques, including how to add jump rings and bails to pendants and how to drill resin.
You will be supplied with plated jewellery blanks and ll resin materials. Please bring an apron, a cardboard box to transport jewellery home (size of a shoe box but not necessarily that deep) and any jewellery that you would like to put resin into (we will decide whether it is suitable on the day). You are also welcome to bring items to embed e.g. photographs, postcards, beads, fabric, lace, etc. If you are planning to bring metal clay items to add resin to, they need to have been made from PMC3 or PMC+ or the Art Clay equivalent (PMC original is too porous).
